As the Story Unfolds The Images The Images Will Be Distributed
As I look at the clusters of old photos, they are like a echo of the past. I can hear mothers joyous laughter with the other siblings, yet also the sadness comes through that lasted for months, before the laughter returned with the sun.
In the past photography was expensive and if you had cheap camera it would stay in the cupboard for years. Then the day came when you could afford a film which was bought and used up the same day so that you could see the results as soon as possible. John Logie loved photography
Some Photos taken by John Logie Baird of Kathleen Faux
in the garden at Sydenham London.
The girl is Johns daughter Diana. Mother loved both children and spoke of them often, but I must admit that she seems to be pushing his daughter out of the picture.
I have saved Mothers bank book as she her self saved it to show that while she was working for the Bairds she was a woman of independent means.
It took till a few years before she died, to have a bank book with savings again, of which she was so proud. As a sad foot note it allowed Elizabeth and myself to bury her with very small expense to ourselves.

Mother despised me for coming along after a short fling with her boss John Logie Baird and she never touched me. I had to learn how to dress myself as soon as I could. I would bang my head on the wall in a vain attempt to get attention. I taught myself how to walk and my step father used to fist and beat me as soon as he saw me.
After some time in the orphanage mother collected me because her brother pestered her. She still hated me as this family photo shows. Her legitimate son and daughter on one side and me being told not to get too near her.
I remember the emptiness and the terrible need to be loved. John Good had a party and his mother put her arm around me, I remember the wonderful feeling to this day.
